When a roadworthy is needed

A roadworthy certificate is required in Victoria when a used vehicle is sold or its registration is transferred, and when re-registering. We can tell you over the phone whether your situation needs one.

What the inspection covers

The inspection is done by a licensed vehicle tester. It covers safety items such as tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, lights, seatbelts, windscreen and body condition. We check the car against the roadworthy requirements and record what passes and what does not.

If the car fails

If the car fails, you get a list of what needs fixing. We can do the repairs and re-inspect it once the work is done. That keeps the process in one place without you running between workshops.

Bookings and quotes

Ring us before you bring the car in. We will tell you what to bring and give you a quote for the inspection over the phone. If the car has known issues, tell us early so we can allow time for parts.

What it is not

A roadworthy is a safety check, not a full mechanical inspection. If you want a clearer picture before buying a car, ask about a pre-purchase inspection.

Transport

We inspect the car at the workshop, not in the street. You can drop the car in during business hours. If you need transport after, ask about a loan vehicle when you book.
